Exciting News!!!

I realize that I've been away from the blog for a while now and I apoligize. I have recieved several complants from family and friend who check the blog frequently to see if I have posted anything new. I have an excuse and it's a good one. I've been very busy with a brand new blog. I can't tell you how excited I am about it. You have to see it for yourself. So hop on over there and take a look. There are also a few new posts to silence all of those who have asked me to please post something new. I hope this does the trick.

She loves to dress up. If she had her choice between shorts and a t-shirt or a dress... the dress would win hands down.

We spent the evening in field of tall grasses filled with sweet sunlight. We twirled, laughed and swatted a few bugs, well more than a few. But in the end she said it was worth it because she loves her sundress so much.

Thanks Little Miss B. for being my assistant. You were a big help. :)

I love the smell of Leather...

I can remember the smell enveloping me as I opened the box on Christmas morning. This present was like no other. Smiling from ear to ear, I reached in and pulled out my very own brown leather coat. Everyone at school had one and now it was my turn.

My mom and dad took it to the back yard and sprayed it with it's first coat of leather protector from Wilson's Leather. After instructing me to take care of it and never wear it in the rain, I was ready to show it off when I went back to school that winter.

I wore that coat everyday without fail, weather permitting or course, oh and until warmer weather came. It lasted me through a few winters. Ah, I loved that coat.

I guess it should be no surprise to me that while browsing for our first living room set I was drawn to brown leather. While checking the comfort level of the sofa, I found myself once again hypnotized by the scent. I'm sure the sales lady was wondering about me as I camped out on the sofa, but once we ordered it along with the love seat and recliner she didn't look at me in a weird way anymore.

They had to ship it from Italy, which made the extra wait almost unbearable. I was so excited to fill my home with that smell. I couldn't wait.

Which brings us to present day... After looking for an album company to offer, it was not a surprise again to find myself longing for one wrapped in Italian Leather. This album showed up at my door with a set of lips on the box. Would it have that same smell? As I opened it, I was immediately taken back to the day I opened that leather coat. I would not be dissapointed. After taking it out of it's slip case, I found myself yet again in that same trance.

I ordered this album for a wedding I did in December. The red leather is a nice departure from the traditional black albums I'm use to seeing and the leather is divine.

These albums come in 3 sizes, 12x12, 10x10, 8x8 and in 6 colors.

As for my attraction to leather.... the love affair continues....

I was so glad to meet Cortney. She will be a representative for me this year. We had a ton of fun. A big thanks goes out to Lois for being my assistant for the day. Here are just a few shot from our day together. I had a hard time narrowing it down. We had a ton of good ones.

Stephanie - Senior 2008

Stephanie is a senior this year and will be graduating from WRV this month. When she walked through the door I knew we were going to have some fun.

I usually start the sessions with looking through the clothing choices we have to work with. When Stephanie showed up with her prom dress I was so happy. I love shooting prom dresses in unusual places. A big thanks goes out to Stephanie and her mom for trusting me with the dress. Here are a few shots from our day.

Izzy Senior 2009

Izzy was my first senior for the class of 2009 and will be a representative for me. Thank you for being a good sport braving the cold as the day went on. Here are a few shots from our day together. I'm so excited to see what this year of seniors will bring.

Car Accident

Yesterday, Chris and I were on our way to Indianapolis when we had an accident. We were traveling in the left lane East bound on I70. A semi was trying to enter the interstate off of the Monrovia exit. Both lanes were lined up with cars in front and back of us. The large RV in the right lane next to us decided he wanted our lane. We were forced off the road to the left came back on the interstate and fishtailed facing oncoming traffic slamming into the guard rail on the right side of the road. We hit the guard rail going about 70 mph on the left side of the car just behind the drivers seat. We were both wearing our seatbelts thankfully, but the initial impact of the car hitting where it did threw me out of my seat on the front passenger side and into the back seat of the car. Chris slammed into his door breaking the interior panel. As you can see from the pictures, we took out five beams of the rail.

Chris and I both went to the hospital to get checked out and came back with no broken bones. Chris is having trouble breathing deeply. I have a softball size swollen bump on my left shoulder and a gash above my left eyebrow. I think I hit the ceiling of the car on the way to the back seat. We both were peppered with glass shards on our arms and are progressively feeling worst over time. This morning we both feel like crap every muscle in our bodies ache. Hopefully, we will be back on our feet in no time. I was told by the EMT that we should have been seriously injured considering the look of the scene, all I can say is that we had a guardian angel watching over us that day and we thank God for that.

Please keep us in your prayers that we recover quickly.

I will hopefully be back to work by sometime next week depending on how long it takes to recover.

OSP - Indianapolis

I had a great time in Indy this week. We stayed at the Omni downtown for a 3 day workshop get together for OSP. On one of the nights, (can't remember which one) we all went to Kiera's to play a little poker.

We also had a project using a chair. Rules were to use the chair and a person in each image. The rest was up to us. Here are a couple of my shots from the day.

Dusty - Senior 2008

Dusty was hesitant about having his pictures taken. I think his quote when I first met him was, "These are more for mom than me." By the time we were finished, I had changed his mind. It was fun to see him get excited about the experience by the time we were done. Thanks Dusty for letting take your picture.

Levi - Senior 2008

Levi and I had fun running around town finding new locations to shoot. When I saw the location for the first image, I couldn't pass it up. Maybe it was because the roof was completely off the building, or the chair perched in the wheel barrel. I don't know. Either way, I love how that image turned out.

I also asked Levi to climb the air conditioning unit and was able to get a new perspective.

We were able to ventured out and shoot an amazing group of people. We all went down to the shore and worked our way from one model to the next. Here are a few shots.

I also had a chance to meet some great photographers two of which agreed to be on the other side of the camera, Kelly and Lindsay.

The Attention to Detail

The attention to detail is amazing. These women have put their heart and soul into this workshop and it shows.

Having to cater to 40+ women is a feat in itself. Millie's mother Julia did it with style and I wish I could take her home with me. The food is absolutely amazing.

Let's not forget the southern sweet tea. Mmmm... A woman after my own heart.

Well, I made it to the workshop in North Carolina. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us. Here are a few pictures from my trip so far....

I'm staying in Palm Cottage while I'm here. Very nice. We can only use golf carts or bicycles to travel around on the island. The locals have such a layed back attitude. I don't even think they look at a clock.

This is the teaching house. There is a little for sale sign cap on the post at the end of the drive. Hmmm...

Ok, I was so bummed that the Colts didn't make it to the Superbowl this year. I always watch though, not only to see if there will be another "wardrobe malfunction" but also to check out the commercials. Anyway, this year they decided to make all the commericals available online. So for those of you who missed them or just want to see them again.

Oh and to see Eli Manning and the Giants win was almost as satisfing as seeing Peyton Manning and the Colts. Wow! Maybe next year we'll be lucky enough to see the brothers play each other in the Superbowl.

I had a fantastic time at Becky and Curt's wedding. Spending the whole day with them was just great.

I was going crazy as I went through their pictures. There are so many great moments and it was killing me to try and decide which ones I wanted to post. I finally gave up and picked some of my favorites, though I have many many more!

This picture cracks me up between Becky and her Maid of Honor. I love how everything lined up just right!!!

The Unexpected...

My morning usually starts by letting my dog Casey out to pee before she goes on the carpet. Then I take a quick shower, checking my email, and eating breakfast. But while letting Casey out, I noticed that a heavy fog had rolled in...

So, I quickly grabbed my camera and headed out to find the perfect setting for the image I had in my head. One lonely little tree in a field, surround by the fog. After driving for awhile with no luck, I headed over to my Aunt's house and took advantage of the field behind her house. Thanks Vicki!

The Reason for the Season....

Every year it seems as though I have tons to do in December. With the added stress of the Holidays, sometimes it's hard to take a moment and remember the reason for the season.

On Sunday, I went to the annual Christmas Program at my parents church. This year my brother played the roll of Joseph. The kids did a wonderful job.

I love this image for many reasons.... the quick glance between a son and his father, the child sleeping in a car seat placed in the isle and Joseph's hand on Mary's back leading eveyone to Bethlehem.

I don't think there was a seat left to be had... and everyone had a camera, even my dad. Love you dad!

Jaron Senior 2008

I had a senior session on Friday, and no your not seeing double. Jaron and Jayton are brothers... well twins. I had a great time with Jaron. Half way through our session Jaron's girlfriend joined us for a few pictures together. I loved seeing the interaction between them.

I recently purchased the Canon Power Shot SD950 IS . Which like I said before, could be a great Christmas present this year. It small enough for me to just carry around in my purse or pocket, which is another reason I love this little point and shoot. I'm still able to take pictures without having to lug around one of my professional cameras. Although I obviously would never consider selling the picture I take with it, I think the pictures have been turning out pretty good. Like for example, this one at the bottom I took at the sectional game.

Anyway, I had a great time at the game tonight. It was gloomy most of the time and started to sprinkle towards the end, but the boys didn't let that hinder them. They won the Sectional Title. Congratulations!!!

It was a great day for a family session. I had the opportunity to photograph Itasha a few weeks ago and was excited about being able photograph her, her sister Kendra and her mother Carol. Carol wanted to use this property for the fall color and I have to say I think we timed things just right.

It was a cool and crisp October day. Finally it's starting to feel like autumn. It's also been nice to see the leaves changing color.

Is it me... or are seniors look so grown up these days. I guess, I must be getting old because I don't remember seniors looking so grown up.

For example Ashley, she could be a model. She has such a great sense of style. When she pulled out the fedora I knew we were going to have a great time. I love that she had an array of outfits to choose from which afforded us the opportunity to experiment a little bit.

Colton Senior 2008

It's always fun to take senior pictures. I usually meet them up town. Once I'm there, I take time to chat and get to know them. This does two things. I'm able to find out more about their individual personalities, but more importantly they have a chance to get to know me. This also helps them with becoming more comfortable in front of the camera which always results in better images.

When I met with Colton, I was taken back by his easy going personality. He made my job easy. I had so many images to chose from. The only thing that was difficult was trying to decide which ones to post.

It was a fun day in the park. I had the opportunity to photography this cute little girl. She was unsure about me at first but after a while she warmed up to the idea of having her picture taken. She loved the slide and was excited about being able to push the merry-go-round by herself. I think we were able to get some great shots.

Jarrett Senior 2008

I had the opportunity to take pictures of his family a few weeks ago. So, for Jarrett's senior session he decided that Dayton, OH would provide a different look to his senior pictures. We were able to find plenty of interesting locations there and had a fun time discovering new locations to shoot. Thank you, Jarrett for your courage to wear your Red Sox jersey in the heart of Cincinnati Reds territory. I also wanted to thank Jarrett's family for their hospitality during our stay in Dayton.

We were also able to shoot in the Schuster Center.

LuAnn + Tim

I've known Tim since high school and had the opportunity to meet LuAnn within the last year and a half. In that amount of time, I've found two life long friends. LuAnn and I volunteered our time and talents for a local hometown publication, The Lintonian .

They had their wedding at city hall and decided to keep their ceremony small, surrounded by close family and friends. It was such an honor to not only be considered their photographer, but a friend as well.

Thank you Tim and LuAnn, may your marriage be filled with a lifetime of happiness.

Itasha Senior 2008

Oh my goodness... What can I say about Itasha. She has such a fun and carefree spirit. I can tell she marches to the beat of her own drum.

Every year, the senior class has their own t-shirts made as a statement for their last year in high school. As the class prepared the designs and narrowed down the contenders, Itasha came up with her own. A statement that was unique to how she wanted to remember "her" senior year.

Itasha, it was very nice to meet and get to know you. Thank you for allowing me to be apart of how you wanted to remember your senior year as well... Have a great year.

She also wanted to recreate The Beatles album, " Abbey Road" so here is our version.

I went out today to take pictures with Rachael. She's a junior in high-school and wanted to know if she could come along with me during a session. Since each of our schedules weren't allowing for that, we decided to just go out and shoot different items around town. We had plenty to talk about, Depth of Field (DOF), F-Stops, ISO, and composition to name a few. With all that, we found plenty to keep us busy. It was so nice to see her enthusiasm about photography. I think it's nice sometimes to just go out and shoot pictures without a set plan. Taking pictures without someone or something in mind. So, thank you Rachael. I think I gained more from our little outing than you know, because today I went out to take pictures, just to take them..... just for me.

Sisters, Sisters.....

It was so much fun spending time with these three little girls at the park. Allowing children to have a good time is key to getting their little personalities to shine. We made sure of that by taking them to the park.

I had a great time during a session with Josh today. In the midst of the session we heard a fender bender on the other side of the building we were behind. By the time we walked around to the other side the ambulance and police had shown up. I'm hoping it was just a precautionary measure. I don't think anyone was hurt. Anyway, I have to add this to the list of crazy things happening during a session.

Well today was fun and busy. We went to the parade. The weather was fine until just after the parade was over and then it started to pour. We were lucky enough to make it to the car in time...

And I'm glad I was able to get a photo of the Linton Music Festival float. The festival is schuduled to take place on Labor Day weekend. It looks to be bigger than ever this year....

Then I spotted this kid during the parade.... I think he had lens envy.

We also took in the movie in the park. They were playing Cars.

Finally we watched the fireworks display. I had such a fantastic time. Hope everyone had a great 4th. It's been a long day, I'm off to bed.

Linton Freedom Festival '07

There's one holiday I love just as much as Christmas and it's the 4th of July... and not just the one day but the whole week of the 4th. I think the best part is with so many different things going on like the parade, music in park, fireworks, and the carnival you'd be hard pressed not to find something to do during this week in Linton. I also enjoy the influx of people gathering in town from other cities across the country. It's nice to see those familiar faces again. I think the best part for me though is being with family. Everyone has their traditions during this time of the year, whether it be a cookout or just spending time with on their families. So I hope you all have fun over the holiday... I know I will.

And Meme was the star of the show.... I absolutely loved working with Becky, Curt and Meme. They, uh... (Becky and Curt) will be getting married this December. I had a great time with all of them. Here are a few images from the day...

Bentley's Baby Session

What a cutie pie!!!! She was just 11 days old when these were taken.

I arrived after her nap and she was ready to eat and get changed. Then she was ready for her close up. We thought she might fall back asleep after her tummy was full, but she had to see what all the fuss was about.

Thanks to her parents for allowing me to take her picture. I had a great time.
